It will be catastrophic if this Maoists revolution does not achieve its triumphant climax
We are in the best of the times. The “protective care of the nature” got us blessed at the twin dawn of the third millennium and the twenty first century with the nativity of mankind’s premier revolution in our country
Humanity gets sublimely elevated and divinely exalted even if only a small segment of it dedicatedly wages a true revolutionary war and going through all the supreme sacrifices and the whole gamut of the travails and traumas entwined therewith, it resolutely marches ahead towards a great revolutionary triumphant finale.
It is a tribute to the PEOPLE OF NEPAL, oriented and molded on the basics of Lord Buddha’s Treatise (in discourse form) on the fundamentals of the republican polity and the way of life therein AND THE LEADERS AND THE RANK AND FILE OF the communist party of Nepal (Maoist), fed on the elixir of Marxian philosophy and Mao Tse-Tung’s and Che Guevara’s respective monumental treatises “On Guerrilla Warfare” based on their own first hand experiences in leading the great Chinese and Cuban revolutions respectively FOR THEIR BEING DEDICATEDLY leading each other right since 1996 in solemnly performing the revolutionary rituals of sacred deaths and auspicious destructions with unwavering faith and firm belief in their ultimate victory. Consequently, Himalaya continues to remain drenched by our blood, our rivers are riotously overflowing their banks mingling with our tempestuous blood and the whole nation is rendered sacrosanct by the piety of our pious blood so very sumptuously sprinkled all over her with reverent continuity.
Nepal in all set to shatter to the bits the alien and the illegitimate monarchy of Nepal and get it crushed, dumped and buried deep along with its vicious edifices and the block headed juggernauts under the ‘blood-slip” gigantic avalanches of billions of tons of blood soaked sands and soils, stones and boulders and innumerable huge rocks and masses of incarnadined ice and snow.
All the great religions of out times were true revolutions in their own respective times of origins. Buddha, Christ and the Prophet Mohammad were great revolutionaries of their times. While Buddha got outcast, Christ was crucified and the Prophet Mohammad had more horrendous times. But they remain much worshiped and reverent and are still guiding and shaping the destiny of their Believers and mankind in general since millenniums.
We had very emphatically noted in 2003 that Nepal is beset with all those contradictions each of which caused a separate revolution in modern times, such as –
1. The Puritanical revolution (1640 – 1660) led by Cromwell against monarchy culminating in brief republican rule – guillotining of Charles I,
2. American war of independence, framing of a great republican constitution, Union of independent states, U.S.A,
3. French revolution – guillotining of emperor Louis XVI, equality, liberty & fraternity,
4. Communist movements in 19th century Europe,
5. The great Russian October revolution led by Lenin,
6. The great Chinese revolution led by Mao Tse-tung.
“Providence” with small “p” means protective care of the nature and “Providence” with capital “P” means God.
7. the anti-colonial mass movement of epic grandeur led by Mahatma Gandhi, and the revolutions led by Che Guevara and Ho Chi Minh and anti- apartheid struggle led by Mandela.
Nepal has most successfully waged all those great revolutions through this very one most complex revolution- popularly known as the Maoists’ revolution of Nepal. Employing most complex war tactics and deft political and diplomatic maneuvering, Maoists are now all set to steer themselves clear of the misgivings and hostilities of the world towards this Maoist revolution and win all those great revolutions through this very one national revolution.
No Nepalese revolution could ever attain its final culmination; they all have either fizzled out or ended in fragile compromises and flimsy commitments. Nepal cannot afford to let this Maoists revolution fizzle out in a compromise or get it crushed with foreign collaborations or sou-motto foreign interventions. It will be catastrophic if this Maoists revolution does not achieve its triumphant climax. Nepal is left with no choice but to win a total victory for this Maoist revolution to accord victories to all those great revolutions so solemnly imbibed by this Maoist revolution. Let us give a crushing blow to all its native and foreign antagonists.
With all the assorted political parties including the parties represented in parliament is joining hands with Maoists and the most elite civil society (Nagarik Samaj) extending and galvanizing erudite supports to them, it is now just a matter of time; Maoists’ victory is already in sight and rest assured.
Nepalese Nepal - Human population in Nepal had been as indigenous as its flora and fauna, fluting forests and waltzing rivers, pastoral plains and heavenly Himalayas, worshiped as the abode of Gods, martyrs and pious souls after their deaths – scripture’s Swarg, Vaikuntha, Zannat, Heaven, a real Shangri- La with a real paradise and not an imaginary one.
Mankind in Nepal lived with nature, in the unison nature, in perfect harmony with nature and to use a Wordsworthean phrase “being one with nature”.
Himalayan economy never fostered exploitations. It (the Himalayan economy) had been so equitably balanced that nobody could exploit others and vice versa, nobody could survive after being exploited yielding even meager extra benefit to the perpetrator.
Human labor had never been a marketable commodity in the region; it was ecologically ordained to be mutually and socially shared and co-operated. Human labor had been, thus, a social and common property.
With no monarchy, no exploitation, no foreign aggression and migration, Nepal had been a model for the world of a cooperate living, cooperate agriculture and commerce, cooperate effort for peaceful co-existence and multi-dimensional progress in the arts and sculptures, poesy and dramatics.
Nepal had developed a viable and most durable socio-economic and political system of its own to be able to cope, cooperate and co-exist with the ever changing times.
South of Himalayan hills, there exists a girdle of ancient forests, and further south there always existed and still exists a similar girdle of most fertile land both commonly referred to as Nepal Tarai. It is in this part of Nepal saint poet Valmiki wrote worlds first and most ancient epic Ramayana in Sanskrit much, very much before Homar wrote his first epic in Greek-Iliad.
While Janak, Sita and Yagyaballaya belonged to Janakpur, Lord Buddha was born in Lumbini Garden, a part of Kapilavastu. Similarly north of the Himalayas in the great Plateau of Tibet, Nepal had territories and some mutual interests and traditional rights in each others territories for the farming of Pashmina yielding hill goats. Kathmandu had ascendancy / monopoly over Pashmina trade and market. The nomenclature “Nepal” itself is a Tibetan word meaning “Wool House”. All the confluences of all the rivers in Nepal used to get turned into some sort of cultural, economic, trade, marketing and wedding centers/places maintaining multi-purpose life line between India and Nepal, Nepal and Tibet, culminating in India and Tibet. Nepal had been a good conduit for Indo-Tibetan-Chinese trade, commerce and cultural exchanges.
Nepal had always been a model of Secularism. Unlike rest of the sub-continent, Hinduism and Buddhism, images of Buddha and Shiva got interfused. Whole of Kathmandu valley had been in itself a “superb piece of fine arts, a super Michelangelo creation”- Mahadeo Narayan, an artist from Shanti Niketan uttered as if in trance in early sixties while viewing the valley from an elevated spot.
Enter the dragon: Loss of Delhi throne and ever increasing Muslim ascendancy in the heartland of India forced the erstwhile ruling Rajput elites to seek new pastures. While Rajasthan remained embroiled and the ravines of Chambal most arduous and inhospitable, the weaklings, army deserters, and outlaws thinned out into the most salubrious parts of the Himalayas – from Kashmir to Kathmandu, and lying low for sometimes, they started multiplying their population. If Rajputs came to Nepal the Brahmins would have remained far behind. Their enslavement program saw Nepal within no time flooded with innumerable tiny kingdoms. Slave system was unknown in Nepal, but soon it rose to alarming propositions due to the mass enslavement drives. It got whole of original social, economic, political fabrics fractured; the new one never got any sway and popular support. Thus, Nepalese were rendered slaves in their own homeland and Nepal got turned into a cluster of archipelagoes on earth with each one of them having similar clusters of tiny Kingdoms. Thus the hapless people of Nepal got condemned to live in their own icy isolations and abject slavery.
We never had any tradition of monarchy in Nepal. Forceful induction of monarchy in Nepal proved counter-productive. In the sacred land of Nepal, the imported seedlings of monarchy could never take roots.
Monarchy is not a normal phenomenon in Nepal; it is an abject aberration in body Politic of Nepal.
Monarchy could not establish itself in Nepal. Monarchy could never rule over Nepal. Times and times again oligarchies were established in Nepal rendering monarchies virtually pawns placed at insignificant places in the chess board of the political spectrum.
The data given below shows the periods of effective rule of the successive kings right since Prithvi Narayan Shah won the throne of Kathmandu.
1. Prithvi Narayan Shah
Won the throne of Kathmandu in 1768 / 09 / 25
Died on 1775 / 01 / 10
Total period of effective rule 6 years 3 Months 15 Days
2. Singha Pratap Shah
Enthroned on 1775 / 01 / 10
Died on 1777 / 10 / 10
Total period of effective rule 2 Years 9 Months
3. Ran Bahadur Shah
Born in 1774
Enthroned on 1775 / 10 / 10
Attained Adulthood (18 Year) 1792
Abdicated throne in favor of his infant son Girwan – 1797
Total period of effective rule 5 Years
4. Girwan Yudha Vikram Shah
Born in 1774
Attaining 18 year 1813
Enthroned on 1813
Died in 1816
Total period of effective rule 3 Years
5. Rajindra Vir Vikram Shah
Born in 1814
Enthroned in 1816
Completed 18 years in 1832
Power stripped 1843
Removed from throne 1847
Total period of effective rule 11 years
6. Surendra Vir Vikram Shah
Enthroned powerless on 12/05/1847
Rana Jung Bahadur the Prime Minister was de facto ruling the nation with all state powers amassed to himself. Furthermore, Surendra was lured to bestow on him-the power, pay, perks and title of Shree 3 Maharaja of Kaski and Lumjung and Prime Minister of Nepal all to be enjoyed hereditarily by his descendants on 06/08/1856. This investure is inaugurated more than a century long Rana oligarchy. Surendra never had any effective rule. He died in 1881.
Effective rule: Nil.
7. Prithvi Vir Viikram Shah
Enthroned Powerless in 1881
And remained so till his death in 1911
Effective rule NIL
Due to continued Rana oligarchy
8. Tribhuvan Vir Vikram Shah enthroned following the death his father (11/12/1911) One Year Two Months Nine Days later on 20/02/1913. He abrogated Rana oligarchy on 1951 February 17 and had effective rule till he died on 14/03/1955.
Effective rule 4 years
Thus, monarchy could have effective rule right since 25/09/1768 to 14/03/1955 till the death of Tribhuvan only for 32 years out of a total of 187 years of consecutive reigns.
Rana oligarchy 104 years
Regency Oligarchy
- For Run Bahadur 15 Years
- For Girwan 16 Years
- For Rajindra 16 Years
Infancy care before
Enthronements 7 Years
Discrepancy of 3 years is due to rounding the figures in years
In contrast, the reigns of Mahendra, Birendra, Dipendra and Gyanendra, the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th kings of the incumbent monarchy of Nepal, had all effective state and royal powers accredited to themselves except Dipendra, who had tragically only two days reign which he relegated to history from his artificial respiratory apparatus.
From the enthronement of Mahendra (14-3-1955) to this day (14-3-2006), it is roughly 51 years. These 51 years witnessed all the three kings enjoying full effective state and royal powers.
Rajput invaders in the first inaugural phase of enslavement drive subjugated the people of Nepal deploying all unfair means and unfair war ethics. With the completion of the large scale enslavement and subjugation drive of the ethnic people of Nepal, Rajput invaders embarked upon building large kingdoms for themselves. Prithvi Narayan shah and his descendants proved better than others in annexing them all to the Kingdom of Nepal founded by their ancestor Prithvi Narayan Shah. Ever since, periodic unrests and popular movements have become usual phenomenon in Nepal, particularly in Kathmandu.
It is great to have no ethnic mutual war, no ethnic uprisings and no acrimonious ethnic clashes in Nepal.
With Rajput invaders/colonists continuing to remain an anathema, a parasite and a pariah on body politic of our nation.
With Nepalese monarchy continuing to remain an alien Rajput invader and hence an illegitimate one in Nepal.
With great activism bordering on dictatorial anachronism and a dash and flair for taking great risks and equally great knack to back track in time to save both the face and the throne, are being much evident in all the kings.
With Rajputs and their co-patriots Brahmins and their progenies still not been able to sublimate themselves into the body politic of ethnic Nepal.
With the assimilation of the alien invaders and their co-herds in body politic of Nepal being the only solution, though over due, commanding our due attention.
With constitutional monarchy being an abhorred colonial outfit and urgently needed to be exorcised from our body politic. With all such invaders/colonists still calling the shots and ruling the roosts.
With five decades of fierce fighting, continuous struggle and arms revolution – democratic, communist and Janwadi all presently culminating in one, the most heroically fought Maoists unique revolution.
Maoists revolution presently being in a most dramatic progression a Maoists victory cannot remain be far behind.
Therefore, the revolutionary solutions of those problems posed above will be revolutionarily found out.
In our history, Prime Ministers with the concurrence of House in Vogue had dethroned the Kings and enthroned the legal or natural incumbents –
(a) Prime Minister Jung Bahadur Rana dethroned king Rajendra Vikram Shah & enthroned his elder Surendra with army in parade, supportive civil gentry in attendance both simultaneously concurring on 12/05/1847.
(b) Prime Minister Mohan Shamsher Jung Bahadur Rana dethroned King Tribhuvan Vir Vikram Shah Dev after securing the consent of the emergency joint sitting of Bhardary and the Parliament on 07/11/1950.
(c) Mohan Shamsher enthroned Gyanendra after securing the concurrent consent of the said joint sitting.
(d) Mohan Shamsher dethroned Gyanendra and welcomed Tribhuwan to take his throne with the concurrence of the fresh joint sitting of the Bhardary and The Parliament on 07/01/1951 (23/07/2007, Vikram Sambat).
It is hard to imagine that a new constitution with monarchy in saddle or in any form would ever be contemplated, drafted or promulgated. The cases of dethronements of the kings are cited above to supplement the case laws in this respect, to enable the parliament and the powers to be to take proper and appropriate action against all those particularly, the King, found guilty of subverting the parliament, constitutional wings, army & the various others.
Whole humanity owe tribute to themselves, and the people of Nepal, the Seven Party-Maoists alliance under their twelve point agreement, other political parties, the most dedicated people of Kathmandu – Bhaktpur – Lalitpur Patan trio, the eternal enemy of monarchy, the great revolutionary people of Kirtipur and most enlightened civil societies (Nagarik Samaj) of Nepal and to the equally enlightened people of hills, Tarai and Nepali living in India and abroad for the unprecedented victory which the stream of revolutionary consciousness of the mankind the world over have accorded to us.
This had been a great peoples movement, millions of people surging ahead – nobody leading, nobody following, all surging ahead, all in revolutionary frenzy, all Maoists without their arms, all Maoists without their own slogans – all revolution personified.
While, this had been a welcome milestone, people of Nepal alias Maoists need to have a great stride, or rather a giant leap forward to embark upon a long revolutionary voyage.
Destiny of mankind can never be changed in the scheduled corner of a scheduled polling booth under the secrecy pull of the secret ballots. Destiny of mankind is changed only under the thunderous hail storms of the bombs, bullets and blasts. Revolution in a super franchise, a super ballot, a super vote.
Tsunami of a great people’s movement (the janandolan) has just passed out. Very soon fall out will be evident. We shall have ample opportunities to access – how much major destruction it has affected and how many auspicious golden pillars it has added in our body politic for posterity to thrive upon.
Constituent Assembly – Ever since the New Delhi drafted royal proclamation of Tribhuwan with a mandatory provision/stipulation of “a constitution being drafted and adopted (Tarjuma) by the elected constituent assembly” got proclaimed by him on 18/02/1951, slogan of an elected constituent assembly have been rather as a routine very frequently got raised in Nepal – (i) to obliquely threaten the king and (ii) to dole out their own suede progressiveness to impress others in coterie.
Ever since, in nearby times, Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai, fully backed and well briefed by Prachand – leading the five member peace negotiating delegation of the Maoists in 2003, had in his lucid enunciation very clearly outlined the road map for restoring permanent peace in our country, the people got sober and serious about it, started taking it up as a serious state craft and a very complicated constitutional deliberations.
It was visualized first to hold the all party round table conference, 2nd round table conference to constitute an all party ministry to call and conduct the election of the constituent assembly. 3rd: The constituent assembly to frame and adopt a constitution of Nepal. 4th: Government in constituent assembly to jointly dedicate the constitution to the nation and order to hold the various elections postulated in the nascent constitution.
Question of a constituent assembly with pre-condition or without a pre-condition is more funny than abhorrent. In the modern times, with the super advancement of audio-visual media, SMS, teleprint media, etc the whole nation gets collectively framing the constitution. Not only a part of the constitution, but every article, sub-article, clauses, sub-clauses, words, all the punctuation marks are not only nationally but internationally debated and discussed or better say deliberated.
Let us elect a constituent assembly on the basis of adult suffrage with all the piety of our piousness. Let us get the constituent assembly fully endowed with all the supreme powers of the state to enable the constituent assembly to re-write our destiny, to destroy what is needed to be destroyed, to abolish what is needed to be abolished, to recreate anew what is needed be recreated.
Conscience of the nation is in favor of abolishing the monarchy and usher in a republican way of life, a republican way of polity.
As a word of caution, no major country in the world presently exists having a constitution framed by a constituent assembly directly elected on the basis of adult suffrage.
Many countries in the past got divided in the run up or during the deliberations of the constituent assembly – India and Pakistan to name a few.
This is not a problem with us. We are more emotionally integrated and politically more conscious too, compared to the 1947 or 1971 India and Pakistan. We are more competent now to ward off such exigencies. Amen!
I had planned to undertake 33 days fast around these times. I had to postpone it due to massive peoples movement just now triumphantly concluded. New date for my said 33 days fast will be announced in due time.
I pay my homage and solemn obeisance to all our great martyrs and wish them all the eternal peace in Heaven and the eternal homage and floral tributes on earth.
