Summit talk on July 21, HoR will be desolved- Prachanda
Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and the seven-party alliance today agreed to hold the second round of summit talks in Kathmandu on July 21. According to Maoist Chairman Prachanda a decision to this effect was taken at today’s meeting of the leaders of the seven-party alliance and the Maoists which concluded at Godavari Resort in Lalitpur this afternoon. "The next round of talks will focus on implementation of 8-pt agreement reached between the government and the Maoists during the first round of talks", Prachanda told reporters after the meeting.
NC vice-president Sushil Koirala and leaders Ram Chandra Paudel, Chakra Bastola and Mahesh Acharya; UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal and leaders Jhala Nath Khanal, Amrit Bohara and Bam Dem Gautam; and Maoist Chairman Prachanda and leaders Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Agni Sapkota, Barsaman Pun were present in today’s meeting.
Coordinator of the Maoists talks team Krishna Bahadur Mahara and members Dina Nath Sharma and Dev Gurung, Head of the government talks team Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula, and members (ministers) Ramesh Lekhak and Pradip Gyawali, and were also present in the meeting.
"We concurred on the necessity of dissolving the HoR after forming an alternative to it together," the Maoist Chairman said, further adding that "the HoR will be dissolved."
CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal told reporters that today’s talks mainly focused on the ongoing debate over the 8-pt agreement. He added that the next round of summit talks would sort out all the misunderstandings between the seven-party alliance government and the Maoists.
