It is often said that, "the future is unwritten". But today in Nepal, at the very top of the world, the future is being written! During the first two weeks of April it was being written in the streets of Kathmandu, and Pokhara and in cities and towns throughout the country. It was being written in the brave and determined faces of the hundreds of thousands of women and men all across Nepal who risked their lives to press their demand that the feudal despot in Kathmandu be driven from the throne, the monarchy abolished and political power be truly put in the hands of the people. नेकपा माओवादीका पोलिट्ब्यूरो सदस्य रामबहादुर थापा (बादल)ले हतियारको मुद्दा उठाएर संविधानसभाको निर्वाचन हुन नदिन षड्यन्त्र भइरहेको बताउनुभएको छ। ‘अन्तरिम संविधान र संविधानसभाको मिति घोषणा हुनासाथ हतियारको कुरा आफैं मिल्छ’ नेपाल पत्रकार महासंघ मोरङ शाखाले शुक्रबार आयोजना गरेको कार्यक्रममा उहाँले भन्नुभयो। माओवादीको सैन्य विभागमा पूर्वी कमान्डको नेतृत्व गर्ने थापाले राजनीतिक मुद्दालाई छायाँमा पारेर हतियारको मुद्दा उठाउँदा त्यसबाट ठोस समाधान आउन नसक्ने बताउनुभयो । ‘राजनीतिक समस्या समाधान अघि माओवादी सेना क्याम्पमा बस्नुको पनि अर्थ छैन’ उहाँले भन्नुभयो। (more…)

- वर्तमान परिप्रेक्ष्यमा हतियार त्याग्ने र नत्याग्ने भन्ने विषयले अहिलेको प्रसंग र सन्दर्भसँग मेल खाँदैन । किनकि यहाँ कुनै पनि शक्ति पराजित भएर हतियार त्याग्न आएको होइन र कुनै शक्ति विजय भएर अर्को पक्षको हतियार खोस्न लागेको पनि होइन । यहाँ त अहिले आन्दोलनकारी शक्तिहरू केही हदसम्म सफल भएका हुन् । जसमध्ये एउटा शक्ति सरकारमा छ र अर्को शक्ति सरकार बाहिर छ । अहिलेको मामला सहकार्य गरिरहेका घटकहरूबीचको मामला भएकाले फेरि पनि सहकार्यकै लागि थप समझदारीहरू अगाडि बढाउँदै वार्ता चलिरहेको अवस्था हो । यदि अहिले पराजय भएकै अवस्था हो भने दरबार एकहदसम्म पराजित भएको हो साथै उसको मातहतमा रहेको सेना पनि एक हदसम्म पराजित भएको हो । र, आन्दोलनकारीहरू चाहिँ एक हदसम्म विजय भएको अवस्था हो । तर पूर्ण विजय प्राप्तिका लागि संविधानसभाको निर्वाचनतर्फ अगाडि बढ्नुपर्ने आवश्यकता छ । (more…)

In Rolpa district, one exciting project that the people are undertaking is the Martyrs Road – the first road suitable for motorised transport ever to be built in that part of Nepal. The great Nepalese People’s War, having completed its ten years, has entered into the eleventh one. On this historic occasion, how have you been feeling as the main leader of this movement?
When I am called for presenting my feeling on the intensiveness often years-of People’s War, pride and sense of responsibility makes me very much emotional. Certainly, there are quite a number of objective and subjective elements behind the intensiveness of Nepalese People’s War, but in our Party opinion, the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist outlook that determines its policy, plan and program based on ‘concrete analysis of concrete situation’ and ‘mass line’ is the main thing. राज्यपक्षसँग वार्तामा हुनुहुन्छ, वार्ता के हुन्छ ?

ग्रामीण क्षेत्रमा काम गर्दै आएकोमा अहिले हामी शहरकेन्द्रित आन्दोलनमा आइरहेका छौं। राज्यको पुनर्संरचना र अग्रगामी शान्तिवार्ताका लागि तथा देशको प्रगतिका साथसाथै प्रजातन्त्र पनि बलियो होस् भन्ने एउटा प्याकेजसहित आएका हौं। यसरी जनआन्दोलनको बलबाट आएको लोकतन्त्रमा अग्रगामी निकास वार्ताबाट होस् भन्ने हाम्रो पहिलो प्राथमिकता हो। त्यहीअर्न्तर्गत हाम्रो काम-कारबाही अगाडि बढिरहेको छ। वार्ताका क्रममा विभिन्न अप्ठेरा मोडहरू आएका छन्, तैपनि अगाडि बढिरहेका छौं। १२ बुँदामा आएर टक्क अडेको अवस्थामा आठ बुँदा आयो, त्यसबाट संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघसम्मको कुरा आयो। (more…)

The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and the Communist Party of India (Maoist) jointly re-assert their firm commitment to proletarian internationalism, mutual fraternal relations, on the basis of MLM. All tactical questions being adopted in the respective countries are the sole concern of the parties operating there. A senior Maoist leader said that a ceasefire and peace talks with the government were headed towards collapse and warned of a return to war. It looks like the size of the movement has reduced after some
partners reached government posts?
One need not worry about the size of the movement. This is not a competition for power but a struggle driven by ideology and beliefs. There might be fewer people involved, but the main issue is to free ourselves from the slavery of monarchy. That some people leave the movement to help the state does not diminish the impact of the movement. The sit-in on 26 July proves this. (more…)
