The New People’s Army is the revolutionary army of the Filipino people under the absolute leadership of the Communist Party of the Philippines. The NPA was established in March 29, 1969 with 60 Red fighters armed with 9 automatic rifles and 26 single-shot rifles and handguns. Currently, the NPA has a sum total of at least three divisions or nine brigades or 27 battalions of full-time Red fighters with high-powered rifles.
