१८ जेठ ०५८ को मध्याह्न । तत्कालीन अधिराजकुमार ज्ञानेन्द्र शाह भतिज नीराजनका साथमा चितवनको सौराहामा थिए । ज्ञानेन्द्रको मोबाइलमा युवराज दीपेन्द्रको फोन आयो । दीपेन्द्रले १९ गते शुक्रबारको भोजमा उपस्थित हुन काका ज्ञानेन्द्रलाई अनुरोध गरे । युवराजको यो अनुरोध शाही परम्पराअनुसार आदेशबराबर थियो । नाताले काका भए पनि शाही मर्यादामा युवराजको अनुरोध अधिराजकुमारले नकार्ने परम्परा दरबारमा थिएन । तर, नीराजनलाई १९ गते बिहान हेलिकोप्टरबाट काठमाडौं पठाएर ज्ञानेन्द्र पोखरातर्फलागे ।
१९ गते राति नै नारायणहिटी हत्याकाण्ड भयो, राजा वीरेन्द्रको वंश नै विनाश भयो । अधिराजकुमार ज्ञानेन्द्र भोलिपल्ट बिहान १० बजेमात्र काठमाडौं आइपुगे । दरबार सूत्रहरूका अनुसार ज्ञानेन्द्रलाई तत्कालीन शाहज्यादा पारसले घटनास्थलबाटै नरसंहारको सूचना दिएका थिए । घटनालगत्तै सूचना पाएका ज्ञानेन्द्र चाहेका भए रातभरमै काठमाडौं आउन सक्थे, गाडीबाट पनि । तर, उनी पोखरामै बसे । अर्को दिन पनि गाडीमा धादिङको मलेखुसम्म आएर सैनिक हेलिकोप्टरबाट काठमाडौं आएका थिए ।
काठमाडौं आउनासाथ उनी आफ्ना दाजुको परिवारका सदस्यहरूको लास भएको ठाउ“ वीरेन्द्र सैनिक अस्पताल गएनन् । पहिले उनले हत्या भएको नारायणहिटी दरबारको त्रिभुवन सदनस्थित बिलियार्ड हल र वरिपरिको बगैंचाको निरीक्षण गरे, त्यसपछि मात्र छाउनीस्थित अस्पताल पुगेर दाजु वीरेन्द्रका परिवारका सदस्यहरूको लास निरीक्षण गरे । (more…)

Let’s Give No Legitimacy to the Beneficiaries of the New Kot Massacre

There was another Kot massacre in Nepal’s history on June 1st, 2001. Since the people are yet to get the facts of the tragedy, which killed King Birendra and other members of the Nepali royal family, it is evident that people everywhere are speculating and weighing conspiracy theories. As the saying goes, “paap-dhuri bata karaucha” [The sin shouts from the roof of the sinner’s house], we will one day know the truth. No one is ready to believe the propaganda which is being spread by the government and it’s foreign masters, especially since the way in which this tragedy is being explained—either the love affair or the accidental explosion theory—gives strong reasons to believe that the government itself is behind this tragedy. But this will only strengthen the just claim of the Nepali people to know the truth. So, a coalition between the nationalists and the people’s forces (NCP-Maoist) to unveil the real villains of the tragedy is what history demands from us at this particular moment of time. (more…)
