काठमाडौँ, असार २७/माओवादीको तर्फाट सरकारमा सहभागी भएका पाँच मन्त्रीहरुले आफू सरकारमा सहभागी भएपनि जनतालाई परिवर्तनको अनुभूति दिलाउन नसकेको स्वीकार गरेका छन् । सरकारमा सहभागी भएपछि जनतासँगको खाडल झन् ठूलो भएको उनीहरुले बताए ।

सरकारमा सहभागी भएको एकसय दिन पुगेको अवसरमा आफूले गरेका काम कारबाहीबारे जानकारी दिन आयोजित पत्रकार सम्मेलनमा उनीहरुले यस्तो बताएका हुन् । “जनजीवनसँग सम्बन्धित अनुभूति दिन सकेनौँ, संविधानसभाको चुनाव गछौर्ँ भनेका थियौँ तर गर्न सकेनौँ”- सरकारमा पार्टर्ीीे नेतृत्व गरेका सूचना तथा सञ्चार मन्त्री कृष्णबहादुर महराले भने- “काङ्ग्रेसले पुरानै ढाँचा र शैलीमा एकलौटीरुपमा सरकार चलाएका कारण हामीले केही गर्न नसकेका हौँ ।” यही स्थिति कायम रहेमा संविधानसभाको चुनाव मङ्सिर महिनामा पनि हुन नसक्ने उनको टिप्पणी थियो । महराले सबै माओवादी मन्त्रीहरुको प्रतिनिधित्व गर्दै सामूहिक धारणा राखेका थिए ।

संविधानसभामार्फ लोकतान्त्रिक गणतन्त्र स्थापना गर्ने आफूहरुको लक्ष्य रहेको बताउँदै मन्त्री महराले त्यसका लागि सरकारमा रहेर सङ्र्घष्ा गरिरहेको बताए । उनले गणतन्त्र स्थापना गरेरै छाड्ने अठोट पनि व्यक्त गरे ।

वेपत्ता नागरिकको खोजी गर्न, सुकुम्बासी समस्या समाधान गर्न, रायमाझी आयोगको प्रतिवेदन र्सार्वजनिक गरी आयोगले दोषी देखाएकालाई कारबाही गर्न, राजाको सम्पत्ति राष्ट्रियकरण गर्न र महँगी नियन्त्रण गर्न आफूहरु असफल भएको माओवादी मन्त्रीहरुले स्वीकारे । आफूले कुनै पनि काम गर्न नसक्नुमा राष्ट्रिय आत्मर्समर्पणवादी सोच कायमै रहनु, अन्तरिम संविधान कागजमा मात्र सीमित हुनु र परम्परावादी राज्य संरचना यथावत रहनु प्रमुख कारण रहेको उनीहरुले बताए ।
माओवादीका तर्फाट अन्तरिम सरकारमा सहभागी भएका पाँचै मन्त्रीहरुले आ-आफ्ना मन्त्रालयहरुमा भएका कामकारबाहीबारे जानकारी गराएका थिए । आठदलको संयुक्त संयन्त्र बनाएर सरकार चलाउने भनिएपनि त्यो हुन नसकेको उनीहरुको गुनासो थियो ।

Maoist minister and government spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara today blamed Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala for the government’s inability to hold constituent assembly election in June. He also said he was unable to address issues of the general public in the government’s policies and programmes.
“The government has been hatching conspiracies and working with an old mind-set,” the Minister for Information and Communications told a press conference at the Maoists’ parliamentary party office.
Most of the Maoist ministers, including Hishila Yami and Dev Gurung, were present at the conference where secretaries and senior officials of their portfolios made public their progressive reports. “We have spent three months in the cabinet and our expectations have not been met,” Mahara said.
“As Prime Minister Koirala has been leading the eight-party government he must take the responsibility for its failures,” he added.
“The Prime Minister is solely responsible for not launching programmes directly related with the people’s right to live,” Mahara said.
“We have been demanding a Joint Coordination Committee to guide the cabinet, but in vain and, moreover, the cabinet has been working as if it were a majority government of the Nepali Congress,” he added. Mahara, however, said that they still hope to bring about a change in society. The ministers said the government is not working in line with the Interim Constitution of Nepal-2007.
Mahara also said that national and international forces are conspiring against the election.

There is every chance that a military coup may happen again, Senior Maoist leader Ram Bahadur Thapa, ‘Badal’ accused royalists and regressive forces of hatching conspiracies to scuttle the constituent assembly (CA) polls. Addressing a press conference organised here by the Dhankuta chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), Badal said, “Though a republican front of the leftist forces may be possible, chances of our party uniting with the CPN-UML are very slimin the present circumstances..”
“Short-term and narrow mind-set is the cause of the division among the communists,” he added.

Saying that the double standard of the Nepali Congress is a hindrance to the establishment of a republic, he said: “The parliament should announce the country a republic with agreement of the eight political parties.”
Stating that there are chances that Maoists might join the rightists, Badal accused “various forces” of actively working to foil the Maoists’ every efforts.
Saying that the demands being raised by the dalits, women, janajatis and the Madhesi people are genuine, he said all problems will be solved once the country becomes a federal republic.
The country is sure to become a democratic republic despite the conspiracies of the regressive forces, he added.

Central Committee member of the Young Communist League (YCL) Binod Pant ‘Jitendra’ and YCL’s Rupandehi district secretariat member Sheshmani Lamichhane ‘Mani’ were abducted and brutually killed today by the murderer group Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF). Jitendra was also the YCL’s Lumbini zonal joint coordinator. Both were abducted by MJF killers as they were going to inspect the Khurdalotan Dam on the Nepal-India border today and killed later, Maoist Rupandehi district in-charge Nirmal Kumar said.

A home-made weapon, grenades, etc was used to kill Jitendra at Shivpur of Gowaha VDC at 11:00 am, while Mani was hanged from a tree before he was shot at 4:00 pm, YCL Bhairahawa in-charge Udaya said. King can be removed if he conspires against the Constituent Assembly polls and assumes ‘executive powers’
Kathmandu, June 13:
For the first time in the history of Nepal, the Parliament today adopted a provision in the Constitution that will allow the House to abolish the monarchy if the King is found to be conspiring against the Constituent Assembly elections. Inserting the provision in Article 159 of the Interim Constitution of Nepal 2007, the House passed the second amendment bill of the Interim Constitution by two-thirds majority. A total of 281 members of the 329 seats of parliament had cast their votes favouring the amendment while only two members cast their votes against the bill. Jana Morcha Nepal’s MPs Pari Thapa and Nava Raj Subedi cast their votes against the amendment. The bill came into force immediately after Speaker Subas Nembang announced the amendment at 10.30 PM and authenticated the Bill. (more…)

After five days of isolation and torture Krishna Sen died, the blows, boots, and lathis of the men in uniform raining down upon him. He was kept captive in the highest building in Mahendra Police Club, next to its Judo Hall. His hands were bound behind his back, and he was repeatedly asked to say “This country belongs to the king.”

Sen had been caught in Naya Baneswor on 20 May 2002 and been in captivity in the Police Club since. Journalist Sangeeta Khadka, who saw Sen at 2 AM on 21 May, said, “After some hours of torture, Sen was vomiting, his arms and legs were broken.” Khadka says two policemen were propping Sen up against a wall as a jackbooted DSP Bikram Thapa kicked him repeatedly. Every day, tens of thousands of commuters, civil servants, diplomats travel up and down Maharajganj. The Foreign Ministry and Teaching Hospital are across the street. Yet, just over the wall inside Mohan Shumshere’s former palace at Laxmi Nibas, which served as the headquarters of the Bhairabnath Battalion, thousands of prisoners were detained, tortured, and exterminated between 2003-2005. This was a concentration camp in the heart of the city. मुलुक यतिबेला राजनीतिक निकासको पर्खाइमा छ । वर्गीय, जातीय, क्षेत्रीय लिंगीयलगायत सबै समस्याहरूको समाधान गर्ने, महिला, दलित आदिवासी जनजाति, मधेसी, पिछडिएको क्षेत्र तथा मजदुर एवं किसान वर्गको अधिकारलाई स्थापित गर्ने गरी राज्यको अग्रगामी पुनःसंरचना गर्ने कुराको संकल्प १२ बुँदे सहमतिदेखि नै गरिँदै आएको हो । १२ बुँदे सहमतिका आधारमा थालिएको जनआन्दोलनको मुख्य जनादेश लोकतान्त्रिक गणतन्त्र र संविधानसभा भएको कुरामा कुनै विवाद छैन भने गणतन्त्रबिना सबै समस्याहरूको समाधानसहितको राज्यको अग्रगामी पुनःसंरचना सम्भव छैन । (more…)

BEIJING, March 24 — Mao Anqing, the only known surviving son of Mao Zedong, has died, a government news agency reported Saturday. He was 84.Mao Anqing died Friday, the China News Service said, without citing a cause. He had no role in government, suffered from psychiatric problems and was believed to have spent much of his adult life in mental hospitals.

A conference of an international network for the abolition of foreign military bases was organised in Ecuador attended by over 1,000 activists and experts from 30 countries last week. The No Bases Network will coordinate action strategies against the more than 1,000 military bases worldwide. Activist of Ecuador No base coalition Lina Cahuasquí said that most of the 1,000 foreign military bases on the planet belong to the United States, which has 737 in different countries of world. नेकपा माओवादीका डेपुटी कमाण्डर नन्दकिशोर पुन -पासाङ)ले राजधानीमा माओवादीको कुनै टाक्सफोर्स नभित्रिएको जानकारी दिनुभएको छ । उहाँले राजधानीमा भइरहेका पार्टर्ीी विभिन्न गतिविधिमा भाग लिन मान्छेहरू आएको पनि उहाँले बताउनुभयो । निर्धारित खुला कार्यक्रमबाहेक माओवादीको कुनै सैनिक दस्ता राजधानी नआएको र आउन जरुरी पनि नभएको उहाँको भनाइ थियो ।

नेपाल एफएमद्वारा सोमवार प्रसारित कार्यक्रम ‘समय समीक्षा’मा कुरा गर्दै पासाङले सरकारले नचाहिँदो हल्ला गरेर सुरक्षा परिचालन तीब्र बनाएको र वार्ता भाँड्ने षड्यन्त्र गरेको आरोप पनि लगाउनुभयो ।
